PSG propose sensational swap deal for Mike Maignan

Paris Saint-Germain continue to follow with great interest the situation of AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

The new season has just started and the transfer market was recently closed but in reality clubs continue to work on their transfer targets regardless of what period of the year it is. Having signed a big number of players this summer AC Milan have shifted their priority on contract renewasl. Mike Maignan is one of the big names AC Milan are trying to tie down to a new contract.

There hasn’t been a significant progress on this front. The Rossoneri plan to offer the French goalkeeper a deal close to that of Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez, meaning in the €5 million region. However, Mike Maignan is reportedly asking €8 million per season according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

One side that is very happy with the lack of progress on Maignan’s renewal is Paris Saint-Germain. The French giant are very interested in the 28-year-old goalkeeper and want him to return to his old club. According to the French press, PSG have had contacts with Maignan’s entourage to understand his availability.

Paris Saint-Germain are ready to offer Gianluigi Donnarumma in a exchange for Mike Maignan. New PSG coach Luis Enrique has never hidden his desire to have under his orders a goalkeeper that his good with his feet and Donnarumma is not that kind of player. Mike Maignan instead would be the perfect fit for Luis Enrique.

Donnarumma would be more than happy to return to AC Milan. His move to PSG has not exactly worked out as he had planned. PSG have been unable to reach success in Europe and the Italian goalkeeper feels he is often treated unfairly by the French press. While Donnarumma would be more than willing to return at San Siro the fans may not be that fond of this idea.

The 24-year-old Italy international left AC Milan under awful circumstances. Gianluigi Donnarumma openly clashed with the club and fans expressing more loyalty towards his late agent Mino Raiola. Donnarumma joined PSG in 2021 on a free transfer with AC Milan unable to gain anything from the departure of their then-star.
